Game in the Gulf is a 5 day cruise on board the Carnival Ecstasy for Magic: The Gathering players and their friends, families, wives and girlfriends.  You will experience all that a regular cruise has to offer, in addition to various Magic: The Gathering tournaments throughout the span of the cruise.

Who can attend Game in the Gulf? Game in the Gulf is open to everyone, gamer or not!  We are creating an experience for gamers and non-gamers alike to enjoy a great vacation while having the opportunity to play some games! For all the non-gamers, remember… you’re on a cruise!! So sit back, relax, and enjoy the sun!

What is the cost for the cruise?  The cost of the cruise starts at $485 per person for an interior room.  You may also choose an ocean view room or a suite, depending on how much you want to spend.  All prices are based on double occupancy.  You can view all the pricing at www.legionevents.com/cruise.

Why does this same cruise appear to be cheaper on other websites? After all the add-ons (taxes/fees) that other websites charge you, this is the best price available for the cruise. Your fee with us includes ALL TAXES AND FEES.

What does the cost of the cruise include? The cost of the cruise includes your room, food, all shipboard entertainment, a hosted cocktail party and ALL TAXES AND FEES!  The only exceptions are alcoholic beverages and gratuity, which you are expected to cover yourself.

Who has to pay the Gamer Registration Fee?  Only gamers planning on playing in the Magic: The Gathering events need pay the Gamer Registration Fee.  Non-gamers do NOT need to pay this fee.

What does the Gamer Registration Fee cover?  This is a ONE TIME fee, which covers your entry into all of our tournaments on board.  This fee covers your product cost, prize support and the staff support needed to run the tournaments.  The only tournaments NOT covered by this fee are side booster drafts.

How do I register for the cruise?  In order to register for Game in the Gulf, please fill out the form found on the bottom of the page at www.legionevents.com/cruise.  Fax the completed form to Kim Maita at the number provided on the bottom of the form.

How many spots are available?  We have initially reserved 200 berths for Game in the Gulf.  Depending on the registration numbers, we have an opportunity to add a few additional spots if necessary.

When is the registration deadline?  October 20, 2008 is the deadline for your $200 deposit (per person).  This holds the current pricing for the cruise.  Your deposit is completely refundable until December 8*, 2008, when the remainder of your fee is due.  You MAY be able to book after these dates; however, we can NOT guarantee any pricing after these dates.  Please contact Kim at kim.gameradventures@yahoo.com for more information regarding registration.

Are there going to be side booster drafts on the cruise?  YES! However, they are not included in the Gamer Registration Fee, and we are not allowed to take money on the cruise.  In order to play in our booster drafts, you must pre-purchase booster draft tokens at www.legionevents.com/cruise (coming soon!).  Any booster draft tokens not used by the end of the cruise are fully refundable.

Can I pre-order additional product to pick up on the cruise?  Absolutely!  We will soon have all your gaming products available at www.legionevents.com/cruise for your convenience.  From board games and booster packs, to sleeves and dice, we’ll have it all!  Simply order what you want online, make sure to include the fact that you’d like delivery on the cruise ship, and we will bring it to you… NO SHIPPING!!  This even includes brand new boxes of Conflux, which releases the weekend of the cruise!

Can we bring our children on the cruise?  Children are more than welcome on the cruise!  Carnival has a fantastic children’s program available during the day, FREE OF CHARGE!  There are also family activities you can all do together.  You can also hire a babysitter in the evening if you want a night off to go enjoy one of the shows. Please contact Kim at kim.gameradventures@yahoo.com for pricing details.

What if I don’t want to play in all the tournaments?  You are not obligated to play in any tournaments.  Pick and choose the ones you want.  We have a variety of events so that something will appeal to everyone!  However, if you choose to skip a sealed event, stop by the room and find us… you still get your sealed product!

How big is the cruise ship?  The Carnival Ecstasy has a guest capacity of 2,052.  The Carnival Ecstasy earns it’s name with a beautiful atrium lobby bar, wireless internet café, expanded Youth Program spaces, great casual and formal eateries, lounges and nightclubs, a friendly casino and much, much more!

When are the tournaments held?  The tournaments are held during our time at sea.  When we are in port, we want to offer the opportunity to our staff to enjoy Cozumel and Progreso, so we will not be scheduling any tournaments during the hours at port.  We will also be breaking each evening for dinner at 6pm.  On the first full day at sea, we will break for a dinner a bit early to allow those who want to partake in Formal Night in the dining room the opportunity to get ready.

What is the common practice for gratuity?  We highly recommend you pre-pay your gratuity on the registration form when you sign up.  Average gratuity is $10 per day.  Pre-paying your gratuity allows you the freedom to sit wherever you want in the dining area (if you don’t pre-pay, you will be assigned a table), and is one less thing you will have to worry about on board.

Who do I contact with additional Questions? Please contact me, Lindsey Kary, at Lindsey@legionevents.com.  I am happy to answer any and all questions.  Hope to see you on the cruise!  Happy Gaming!

What prizes can I win on board?  There are a variety of prizes to be given away on board.  All tournaments will have booster pack prizes, as well as some exciting other prizes, including a FREE Cruise (basically this is a refund for the Game in the Gulf cruise), a signed, canvas print of the original Lord of Atlantis artwork from Alpha, and several more to be announced soon.

How old do you have to be to attend Game in the Gulf?  There is no age restriction for how old you must be to attend Game in the Gulf.  However, if you are under the age of 21, you must either room with a chaperone who is 25 or older OR have a parent or guardian in an adjacent cabin.
